We were four retirees who recently spent three nights at the ChileStay apartments. We found them excellent value for money. They were well presented and very well located in a safe part of town. It is two blocks to the best steak house in Santiago and close to the subway and downtown. Also close by were supermarkets, cafes and restaurants.
If you are looking for an alternative to hotel accommodation then I would certainly recommend them.

We have been at ChileStay on three occasions and each time we found the service and quality of the rooms to be superior and a great value. On an occasion when I left a bag behind that happened to contain a camcorder, the staff were able to retrieve it and return it to me very conveniently with great 'comunicacion.' I wanted to thank you for your brilliant apartment in Santiago. My wife and I stayed for 5 nights in March. The location is super! Only a 5 minute walk into the city and 5 mins walk in the opposite direction to Plaza Brasil and the lovely cafes that surround it. Santa Ana metro station is only a 2 min walk away to whisk you all over the city on the safe, clean and modern metro. We enjoyed eating at Las Vacas Gordas - marvelous food, and friendly, smiling and attentive waiters. But most importantly, the apartment itself was clean, well appointed and with a lovely balcony where we enjoyed watching the world go by. During our stay we felt like locals and this was very much because of the apartment although we were there for only two nights. Jill was very helpful throughout the period before our stay to answer all our questions and even to offer to set up extra favors for us. We live on a small Caribbean island, called Saba; it is only five square miles in size with about 1800 people living on it. Our stay at ChileStay was outstanding. We really enjoyed the location in Barrio Brazil, so close to everything and so romantic with it's old world feel and look. We particularly enjoyed being able to walk to most everything we needed (groceries, fish market, internet cafe, banks etc) and we enjoyed the proximity to the subway which we used on regular basis throughout our stay. The apartment was clean, bright, and safe. We had outstanding service from our concierge Juan and Alexandro who patiently and efficiently answered all our questions and requests. We were pleased with the accommodation at ChileStay. Close to the very center of Santiago but just on the other side of the central expressway in the quarter called Barrio Brasil where you're not bugged by traffic. Small grocery shops practically all around as well as two laundries, a drugstore, various coffee shops/bars and a very good restaurant which is situated in the street Cienfuegos. For a supermarket just cross the nearby footbridge. It leads you to the center and then after 300 yards you're there. Staff was helpful. The apartment on the second floor (there's an elevator in the building) consists of a sufficiently furniture living room, a kitchen, two bedrooms with double bed and two bathrooms both with shower, wash-basin and toilet. One of the bathrooms has a bath as well. The kitchen provides for practically all cutlery, cups and dishes and appliances for normal daily need. For garbage there is a chute right at the end of the corridor at about 8 yards from the apartment. In the living room there's a tv set with satellite receiver and a small HiFi set. A working WAP (Wireless Access Point) with internet connection is in one of the bedrooms. The provided call-receipt cell phone is functional. The building and apartments are in good shape and all is clean. All of the above was offered at a reasonable price and after a full week's stay we have no hesitation recommending ChileStay.

We think the apartment is the nicest and safest. Barrio Brasil is a much better option to staying in Santiago central ( one pedestrian bridge away from the main downtown). If you are going on any tours book them in advance and they pick you up at the apartments. All said we would recommend this to people that like to see the real Santiago.

ChileStay location was superb - very central. Equipped with everything you would need - towels, tea towels, cutlery, bedding, access to laundry, music etc etc. It could be a little noisy at times, but that's the trade off for such a great location I suspect. My name is Sergio Malta and I live in Porto Alegre, Brazil. I really enjoyed my time at ChileStay Apartments. At first, it's not "claustrophobic" as an hotel room; actually, they have a large balcony (with an interesting view), a fully equipped kitchen and a cozy living room. Besides, you can take your meals whenever it pleases you, and eat whatever you want (there's a fine supermarket nearby) - you couldn't do this in an hotel room. The bed is very comfortable, the shower and the tub are also fine. Finally, it's a short walk from the subway station. And once in the subway, you can reach wherever you want in Santiago. ChileStay Apartments are really worthwhile.

I had a great visit to Chile and the accommodations at ChileStay Apartments are excellent. I would recommend ChileStay to anyone staying in Chile. I liked the convenience of having a kitchen. And the Santa Isabel grocery nearby made it easy to buy food and prepare it myself (saving me money). The washer and dryer machines allowed me to pack less clothes for my 10-day visit. The Santa Ana metro station is close by. I had no problem getting around in Santiago. I especially like the cell phone that you make available to guests – very useful. Also, the TV has lots of good options. Wireless internet access is a real advantage, although you should increase the power of the antenna. The wireless connection was not always stable (This is really the only minor criticism that I have).

We have just returned from an amazing vacation in Chile. One of the things that made the vacation so good was our discovering ChileStay, and renting one of their apartments in the Barrio Brasil. Our youngest son, who had been teaching in Santiago for the previous three months, was thrilled to have his own bedroom, and not have to sleep on a pull out couch! Although we took many trips away, to Easter Island, the Atacama, and went skiing at Valle Nevado, we kept the apartment for our entire stay, as it was wonderful to come back "home" to R & R after each adventure. Juan and Carolina at the front desk deserve special thanks for going out of their way to make our stay that much better. We also spent 2 wonderful days with Hector and Piti at the Bed & Breakfast relaxing in the peaceful setting of the house, and taking in with them the excitement of Valparaiso and Viña del Mar. We are particularly grateful to them, for the visit to the Pablo Neruda house at Isla Negra. We will certainly keep in touch with them as they quickly became our good friends. We highly recommend ChileStay Apartments. We will certainly be staying there when we return to Chile, hopefully sooner rather than later.

Among the 3 different places we tried during our 9 months in Chile, this is the one we preferred. We enjoyed the neighborhood (lively but safe) and the apartment was clean and very comfortable. I used the Internet every day to stay in touch with my family in France (thank you Pablo for staying so long waiting for the ISP to repair the ChileStay connection). We thought the Barrio Brasil was really interesting with some cool restaurants. My kids were particularly enamored with ‘Los Vikingos’ and ‘La Cara de Palo’. At first, we thought it was something from Myrtle Beach, but the food was surprisingly very good! We liked all the restaurants, including ‘Las Vacas Gordas’. We also had a great time with Hector and Piti in Valparaiso for a day. They showed us places in the city that we would have never found! We skied at Portillo and tried to ski at Valle Nevado, but the snow was too heavy and visibility impossible! Quite a drive up there though! ChileStay Apartments is a 5 star accommodation at 2 star prices. The facilities and service exceeded all my expectations. Prior to my departure from Australia, Jill called me offering her assistance with my airport transfer, and answering any questions especially in relation to security as I was traveling alone. On arrival at reception I was greeted by a very friendly Carolina, her colleague Juan, both of whom were most obliging, whether it was accompanying me to the supermarket or purchasing a phone card. The apartment was immaculate, very comfortable and secure with all the home comforts one weary traveler could wish for during their stay. Even though Pablo was unwell, he still contacted me several times, and even phoned my husband to inform him of the number by which he could contact me, as I was provided with a mobile phone. The following morning my tour guide Hector, promptly arrived to take me on a tour of the city and countryside. In the afternoon I enjoyed lunch which consisted of typical Chilean cuisine prepared by Gloria. When I returned to Santiago that night, both Hector and Gloria happily took me shopping and gave me a city tour as well which was wonderful. (Forget the bus tours, if you want personal attention.) I would highly recommend ChileStay Apartments, and I doubt very much if you will be disappointed.

The apartment was about 2 blocks from downtown, and the same distance from the subway, clean and new, run by Jill who is American and can communicate very well. Hello, My name is Joe A. deLeon, M.D. I reside in Ajijic , Jalisco, Mexico about 50 km from Guadalajara, the second largest city in Mexico with a population of about 5 million inhabitants. My friend Bob Oleson from Oregon and Ajijic recently stayed in a two-bedroom apartment at ChileStay in Santiago, Chile in November and December, 2005. The apartment was clean and situated in a very good location near restaurants, grocery store, bank, center of town, money exchangers, metro system and near the major freeways for travel to the coast and south of Chile. The apartment had an adequate kitchen, secure parking, TV, satellite system, and phone. The beds were comfortable. Security for the building was good and policemen were patrolling the area on foot. Jill , the manager was very helpful with information, suggestions and was very courteous. Bob and I enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend ChileStay Apartments and would stay again on our return trip to Santiago, Chile.

We stayed at ChileStay in December 2005 and would highly recommend this affordable and pleasant accommodation in a great location. Within walking distance is a funky little cafe and a bakery for breakfasts. The supermarket Santa Isabel is five minutes away and has just about everything you could need. We had fast wireless connection for checking mails and sending pictures and a DirectTV player with a nice big screen for relaxing nights in. The area feels extremely safe, the locals we met extremely friendly and the service and patient help offered by Jill and her team were exemplary (they sorted out our transfers, water needs and eve ordered us in a pizza). We've been away from our home in Sweden for three months traveling now, and Chilestay was the best value for money that we have yet found.

We were very impressed with ChileStay Apartments from the start. We arrived early in the morning (off a flight) and were allowed to check straight into the apartment. We ended up staying there twice during our trip to Chile, both times we had well-equipped, modern apartments. Not only are the apartments of a high standard, but their location is excellent – the heart of Santiago is just a few minutes walk. Everything you would want to see and do is close by. We also appreciated the little touches that help to make a traveler's life easier - each apartment has wifi access and international adaptors for plugs. There's also a washing machine and dryer on the ground floor. I would have no hesitation in recommending Chilestay Apartments, we definitely felt that we got great value for the money. If we ever head back to Chile again, I know where we'll be staying!

It was a pleasure to stay at ChileStay Apartments. We are from Rio de Janeiro and we had a little preoccupation about the accommodations made over the internet. When we arrived to Santiago and saw the apartment it was a great surprise...clean, ventilated, near downtown, TV, cellular phone to receive messages, and all the attention that was given to us. The apartment was great! It was comfortable, superbly furnished and equipped, and its location--close to the city's center and to the Santa Ana subway station--can't be better. Moreover, having a cell phone with me while in Chile was invaluable for me to stay touch with contacts on a round-the-clock basis (it definitely beats the land line in hotel rooms) and anywhere in the country--I even used it from the Valparaiso/Viña del Mar region. Moreover, the Wi-Fi connection in the apartment allowed me to use my email, access the Internet, and send reports back home. I highly recommend ChileStay Apartments.

I rented a one-bedroom apartment from Jill and Pablo in September, 2005. They were so nice - the perfect hosts - making sure my partner and I were settled and comfortable. I shopped and cooked every day. The market is close by. Restaurants are close by too, in case you don't want to cook. The Wi-Fi is great - works perfectly. On my next visit I want ChileStay to be my home in Santiago.
